Welcome to The Nicholas Clinic

The Nicholas Clinic delivers comprehensive mental health care — psychology and psychiatry services for everyone, plus specialised support for ADF veterans and their families. We are a veteran owned family focused business that exists to serve.

Why choose The Nicholas Clinic

  • All‑things mental health: integrated psychology and psychiatry under one roof so you receive coordinated, evidence‑based care tailored to your needs. We manage anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, trauma, substance use concerns, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental assessments and more.

  • Accessible Telehealth: secure video and phone consultations make expert care available across Australia — convenient, private and flexible to suit work, family and location.

  • ADF veteran specialists: DVA‑compliant psychiatric assessments, veteran‑specific treatment plans and experience with Defence culture, military service trauma and transition challenges. We can support claims, DVA referrals and coordinated care with other providers.

  • Multidisciplinary approach: experienced psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and allied mental health professionals collaborate to create holistic treatment plans — medication management, cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma therapies, adjustment support and rehab where needed.

  • Rapid access and clear pathways: same‑day or short‑wait triage for urgent needs, straightforward referral processes and help navigating DVA requirements so you spend less time waiting and more time getting well.

  • Evidence‑based and client‑centred: care is informed by best practice guidelines, tailored to individual goals and delivered with respect, confidentiality and cultural awareness.

Personalised support that actually makes sense.

A pathway to better care.

At The Nicholas Clinic, we exist to make sure no Mental Health patient slips through the cracks.
Yes, we specialise in DVA reporting — but that’s just one part of a broader commitment: real, ongoing care that specialises more broadly to support every patient through diagnosis, recovery, and beyond.

Free for all veterans. Always.

DVA psychiatric assessments

We get it, dealing with mental health claims can feel like jumping through hoops. Our role? To take some of that weight off.

We offer detailed psychiatric assessments that meet all DVA requirements. Whether it’s PTSD, anxiety, depression or something else service-related, we help you build a strong case — with clear, impartial reports written by professionals who understand.

Telehealth services

Can’t make it in person? No worries. Our Telehealth assessments are done through secure video calls. So whether you’re posted remote, living overseas, or just prefer being in your own space, you’ll still get the same professional support. Same quality treatment. Needing DVA reports, same DVA-compliant reports compiled.

Still completely free for eligible Veterans.

We know how it feels to be let down by the system.

OUR STORY

Portrait of a smiling woman with dark hair, wearing earrings and a checkered shirt with a black ribbon tie, against a dark background.

WHY?

This clinic exists because we lost someone we loved.
They reached out. The system didn’t reach back.
That gap cost a life. It shouldn’t cost anyone else theirs.

The Nicholas Clinic was built to interrupt that pattern. A Veteran‑owned clinic focused on care that actually listens, understands what’s being said, and does something with it.

We’re here to build a better pathway for those who’ve served. One that feels human. One that follows through.

Because your Mental Health deserves more than paperwork and waiting rooms. You deserve care that shows up, answers clearly, and doesn’t disappear once a report is written.

FAQs

How much does it cost?

We aim for it to cost you nothing. All psychiatric assessments through The Nicholas Clinic are completely free for veterans. Alternatively sessions can be arranged through medicare or privately funded

Can I do this online?

Absolutely. We offer secure Telehealth assessments for patients anywhere in Australia or overseas. It’s the same service, just more accessible.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. Once you've lodged a claim through the DVA MyService portal, you’ll typically be referred for an assessment. If you’re unsure where to start, we can guide you. Generally your GP can assist you with this.

Is the report sent directly to DVA?

Yes. For veterans, after your assessment, we prepare a detailed, impartial report and submit it directly to DVA or to the relevant representative (e.g. your advocate or lawyer), depending on your situation.

What conditions do you assess?

We provide psychiatric assessments for PTSD, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and other mental health conditions, specialising in those related to military service..

Is this a counselling service?

For reports, no. We provide formal psychiatric assessments for DVA-related purposes. If you’re looking for ongoing mental health support, we can help connect you with our trusted professionals for those sessions.
